The blood moon wanes, the candles flicker low, and a familiar silence settles over the halls of Stunlock Studios. Today, we bring you some reflections. A heartbeat between centuries to breathe before whatever may come next.

After six years of creation, obsession, passion, and pure, undiluted magic, we find ourselves at a meaningful milestone in the journey we began together. V Rising 1.1 has been released, marking the realization of the vision we set out to achieve.

This is a moment full of gratitude.

 

 

Invaders of Oakveil 

 

We were deeply grateful to see so many of you return to V Rising. With a staggering peak of over 76,000 players at the 1.1 launch and a spot among the Top 5 on Steam’s global charts, one thing was clear: the thirst was undeniable.

Here at Stunlock Studios, after a year of relentless crafting, we did what all good elder vampires do after a feast: we celebrated with … hotfixes … and pondered the moment. We gathered to watch your Twitch streams and cheered as you descended into Oakveil, unleashing glorious chaos. Some of you got a bit tangled up with Megara (don’t worry, she’s a handful! Well, four handfuls in phase 2), but in true vampire fashion, you rose again and showed the Serpent Queen who really runs the night.

Three Major Updates, One Immortal Dream

 

What began as a small but glorious idea, a Gothic world where players could live out the dark fantasy of being a Vampire, became an unforgettable journey. Not just for us, but for the many among you who rose from your coffins and shared your tales, choosing to join us.

We started developing V Rising after years spent working on live-service PvP arena games, and some of you have been with us since those early days, clashing in Bloodline Champions, Battlerite, or Dead Island: Epidemic. Though we learned much from that era, we longed to create something different, something more ambitious than anything we’d done before.

A bigger world. A game that felt complete at release.

A new experience where you could explore solo or alongside your brood, forging your own vampire legacy. A world you could return to time and again, or walk away from, fulfilled, after completing your adventure. To claim your castle. To rule the night.

Each update in the last years deepened the game, expanded the experience, and helped you become more of the Vampire you wanted to be. We poured everything we had into shaping V Rising into what it is today, and your invaluable feedback guided us every step of the way.

 

 

So… What’s Next?

 

With this latest update, we’ve developed the core content we originally set out to deliver. Now, with our vision realized, we’re turning our gaze not backward, but inward, ruminating on how we can elevate our dark universe to even greater heights and what exactly that would mean. 

Before we can decide what’s ultimately next, we must return to our crypts to work in the shadows. To experiment, learn, and imagine what has not yet been imagined. It’s a familiar task, an invitation to a thrilling challenge. The path ahead will take longer than usual to reveal itself, but be patient and grant us time, children of the night. The Vampires will always rise.

What comes next must be worthy of Vardoran.

To every player who stuck with us through the trials of development, or has only just awakened from their coffin, who built dark cathedrals of stone and bone, who conquered Dracula and carved out their place among legends.
