Battlerite Pre-Season Coming Soon!
The Free to Play launch is right around the corner and with it begins a new season for Battlerite. We’ve decided to call this the “Pre-Season,” as we expect many new players to enter the Arena and it will take time for them to learn the game and for the matchmaking system to properly detect their correct skill rating.
In Season 5 we added the first version of the rating decay system. The idea behind it was to make players more active throughout the entire season but we were not fully satisfied with how this system affected the players. We believe we can create something that rewards and incentivizes players to continue playing instead of penalizing them for not, so rating decay will be deactivated for Pre-Season.
We are also working on moving most of the Season Rewards into Season Quests. With Season Quests we’ll be able to give rewards immediately once players reach a higher league and create a more appealing and straightforward place for players to read about the different goals and rewards available. We will be adding these quests mid-season, as the support for this is not completely ready.
As we continue to gather data and analyze feedback, you can expect bigger changes in following season – the focus is to make them a more rewarding and appealing part of the core gameplay loop. We will also be looking into improving the competitive experience for our top players and making it more rewarding to invest time into the ladder system.
We will also be renaming all previous seasons by adding an “EA” prefix, to signify they were during Early Access. The same goes for the titles that have been handed out.
Hope you are as excited as us as we head into Pre-Season and Free to Play launch! Good luck in the Arena!
