We’ve got a few bug fixes, a few gameplay changes, and a couple balance changes in this first patch to Battlerite Royale. For more on our plan for Battlerite Royale Early Access, check out the Dev Update we posted yesterday. There will be a very short downtime to receive this patch, requiring you to quit the game and download the changes. Follow us on Twitter or Discord to hear when the patch will be live.

General Updates

Bug Fixes
  • AFK players no longer receive a kill when marked by AFK Detection
  • Fixed a camera shake that could occur when changing observed player
  • Minimap should no longer lag when players are jumping off the Storm Wyvern, and player icons on minimap should no longer lag either
  • Volume and panning of enemy death sound now depends on location, being quieter if the death is further away
  • Werebear now has voiceover
Matchmaking and Rating Changes
  • Lower placement now yields a lower placement score
    • This will make it much harder to reach higher leagues
    • Players currently in higher leagues will have a harder time maintaining their rating
  • Rating loss protection for top placements added
    • Placing first now prevents you from losing rating, even if your match rating is lower than your league rating
    • Placing second reducing the rating loss by 50%
  • Matchmaking has been tweaked to create more balanced matches, this may result in increased matchmaking queues

In Patch 1.8 we added more data to a Team composition and that has resulted in a bug for Team Champion compositions. Unfortunately this means to fix it we have to reset the Team Champion composition data, which means that it will not be accurate data for the rest of the Season in Arena or Royale until we may reset the leaderboards in the next Season. For now, we are hiding the percentages on champion composition as it may be very low percentages.

Gameplay Updates

We will be testing out some changes that will affect primarily early game as we’re seeing a lot of players jumping into the same area. We’ve done some changes that should allow players to spread out a bit more across the map while also making the initial combat situations a bit more interesting and complete by allowing players to get hold of an additional early game ability.

Vendors and Consumables
  • Starting Gold increased from 100 to 160
    • Players can now afford to purchase two starting abilities
  • Added one additional recommended ability per champion
  • Enemies now always drops a health potion on death
  • Vendors now sells common (green) abilities instead of rare (blue) to keep vendor consistency and allow players to fill empty slots for a bit cheaper
  • Players now spawn on two different Storm Wyverns flying across the map, with players split evenly between the two
Map Objects
  • Jumppad cooldown increased from 30s to 60s

We’re making some adjustments to the power of Common Items relative to Legendary Items, along with some balancing changes.

  • Circlet of Resilience
    • Crowd Control Reduction changed from 8/16/24/32% to 12/18/24/30%
    • Max Health bonus increased from 5/10/15/20% to 8/12/16/20%
    • Legendary perk damage reduction increased from 25% to 30%
  • The Ravager
    • Damage and Healing bonus increased from 3/6/9/12% to 6/9/12/15%
    • Max Health Bonus increased from 2/4/6/8% to 4/6/8/10%
    • Legendary Bonus now gives a 15% bonus versus targets below 30% health (down from a 20% bonus versus targets below 20% health)
  • Amulet of Energy
    • Energy Gain bonus increased from 8/16/24/32% to 14/21/28/35%
    • Max Health bonus adjusted from 4/8/12/16% to 6/9/12/15%
  • Breastplate of Vitality
    • Max Health bonus increased from 10/20/30/40% to 16/24/32/40%
  • Sheep Medallion
    • Max Health bonus adjusted from 4/8/12/16% to 6/9/12/15%
  • Key Ring
    • Damage versus Chest bonus increased from 25/50/75/100% to 40/60/80/100%
    • Max Health bonus adjusted from 4/8/12/16% to 6/9/12/15%
  • Reaper’s Edge
    • Life Leech increased from 10/12/14/16% to 14/16/18/20%
  • Riding Saddle
    • Mount Speed bonus increased from 6/10/14/18% to 9/12/15/18%
    • Max Health bonus increased from 5/10/15/20% to 8/12/16/20%
  • Boots of Speed
    • Movement Speed bonus increased from 3/6/9/12% to 6/8/10/12%

  • New Ability – Ice Block (Q)
    • Encase target ally within ice for 2s, making them immune to disables and blocking up to 26 damage. They can’t move or use abilities while encased and heal for 16 health over the duration.
    • Legendary Bonus: Grants a 50% Fading Haste that lasts for 2s

  • Blood Axe (Right Mouse)
    • Damage reduced from 16 to 13
    • Bonus damage increased from 4 to 5
    • Range reduced from 9.5 to 8.5
  • Valiant Leap (Space)
    • Damage reduced from 20 to 17
  • War Shout (R)
    • Legendary Bonus duration reduced from 4s to 3s
    • Legendary Bonus Haste reduced from 20% to 15%

  • Frog Leap (Space)
    • Damage reduced from 20 to 18
    • Cooldown increased from 12s to 14s

    • Haste increased from 35% to 40%

    • Snipe can now be charged, with a minimum charge time of 1s and a maximum of 1.5s
    • Damage reduced from a flat 44 to 18-40, damage increasing based on cast time
    • Stun duration changed from 0.5 to 0.2s-0.5s, duration increasing based on cast time
    • Legendary Bonus now reduces Snipe cooldown to 2s

  • Deadly Blow (R)
    • Healing reduced from 20 to 16.

  • Sword Slash (Left Mouse)
    • Hits now reduce the cooldown of Retribution by 1s
  • Retribution (Right Mouse)
    • Cooldown increased from 2s to 5s
    • Legendary Bonus dash range reduced from 40% to 30%
    • Aim preview now shows the correct range with Legendary Bonus
  • Parry (Q)
    • Legendary Bonus damage reduced from 10 to 6

  • Impale (Right Mouse)
    • Base Damage increased 10 to 12
    • Bonus Damage per charge increased from 4 to 5
  • Fleetfoot (Space)
    • Damage dealt during Fleetfoot increased from 50% to 70%
