Welcome to another dev update! In this blog, we’ll be sharing some of what we learned from the first months of Early Access and planned improvements to the game as we move forward. We’re taking a peek into the future of Vardoran and what’s required for us to deliver on your darkest wishes. Many of our ideas are currently early in the production or planning phase, so please keep in mind that everything mentioned in our studio reports is subject to change.
Today, looking up at the night sky of the land of Vardoran, there are no clouds, no stars, no moonlight. There is only the flapping of over one million pairs of midnight black bat wings filling the sky. The Stunlock team could not have possibly imagined how many of you were out there, ready to awaken from your crypts and step into this little world we’d created.
The Vampires are Rising!
We’re getting close to the release of V Rising, and it’s time for a final sit down with our Marketing Director Johan Ilves. He will be answering some of my questions and pre-launch questions I collected from Discord and giving an update on what to expect from V Rising at the Early Access launch and beyond. As always, keep in mind that V Rising is a game in development, and plans can suddenly change!
It’s time for us to announce the winners of our Horror Poster Art Contest! Over the course of these past weeks, we’ve received a lot of really great entries, and we’re eager to share our favorites with you today! The jury consists of Jeremy Bearson (Community Manager), Johan Ilves (Marketing Director), and Ruth Dominguez (Discord Queen & Business Controller), with support from Johan Wahlbäck (Art Director) and Johan Aronson (Senior Concept Artist) to pick the grand winners and runner ups. We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who submitted an entry. It wasn’t easy to narrow down our top picks!
Today, faithful readers, we cast our eyes to the horizon and reveal the world map. For Early Access, we will let players explore four regions, and we could not be more excited to bring you the first real deep dive into Vardoran. From the blazing tops of the Silverlight Hills to the deepest, most sunken, and swallowing depths of the Cursed Forest. It’s finally time to stretch your sinuous wings and join us in a journey across the scarred and twisted lands in your preparations to awaken.
We’re finally starting the V Rising Closed Beta and are planning three test sessions before Early Access. Our first test begins March 23 and focuses on the new player experience! We’ll be shaking the dust off of a few thousand untouched coffins and introducing them to the world of Vardoran for the first time, so everyone begins on a level playing field. Those who haven’t had the opportunity to test the game just yet should start checking your emails soon, as we’ll be sending keys out later today!
We’re excited to announce we’re partnering up with HP OMEN for our first ever V Rising art contest! We want you to interpret V Rising and its gothic world by creating a retro-style horror poster for the game for this contest. The inspiration should come from either old horror movie posters (any decade from the 1920s to the 1990s) or retro horror game cover art.
