Champion Updates & Fixes

We have started looking into how we can improve upon the stealth mechanics in Battlerite, to make it less frustrating to play against but also to tune it down a bit in terms of strength. Changing the constant movement speed increase of targets in stealth into a fading haste makes our stealthy champions able to dodge incoming damage immediately just as before, but requires them to be more decisive with where to go for a potential follow up. This change also reduced the overall area threatened by stealth and makes counterplay at the moment of stealth even more valuable. This is just a start though and we will continue to look into how stealth works in Battlerite.

This patch is a step towards restoring the balance that was disrupted by Patch 0.11.2.0. Most melee champions will now generally move faster during their primary attacks, which, along with some damage adjustments, will help them dish out more damage when they catch up to ranged champions. A few of the other champions that have been performing a tad above or below average have also seen some tweaks.

We have more changes in the works to even out our champion roster, changes which may take a while longer, but we will continue to keep a close eye on the balance of Battlerite in the upcoming weeks.

General

  • Champion’s with melee M1 attacks have had their movement speed while casting increased from 75% to 80%
    • Croak is the only exception and his movement speed while casting M1 remains untouched as he has a separate flow dependent on weapon charges
  • Camera shakes scaled back on several abilities

Ashka

Battlerites

Heat

  • Movement speed while channeling reduced from 50% to 45%
  • Fixed so movement while casting is the same value as during channeling (was previously 60%, now at 45%)

Eruption

  • Fixed so the size increase is the intended 15%, was previously at an unintended ~22%

Bakko

War Axe (M1)

  • Damage increased from 8 to 9
  • Reduced delay between attacks from 0.25s to 0.2s

Croak

Camouflage (Q) & Deceit (EX Q)

  • Movement speed increase changed into a Fading Haste (Meaning the 15% movement speed fades over Camouflage’s/Deceit’s duration)

Freya

Bash (M1)

  • Cast time reduced from 0.3s to 0.25s

Iva

Boomstick (M1)

  • Movement speed while casting increased from 35% to 55%

Rocket X-67 (M2)

  • Damage increased from 24 to 26

Ruh Kaan

Defiled Blade (M1)

  • Reduced delay between attacks from 0.25s to 0.2s

Shifu

After patch 0.11.2.0 and the increased movement speed Shifu often had trouble with hitting his empowered attack after a successful Kunju. Increasing the movement speed after Kunju will help with dealing that damage reliably, and puts the immaterial more in line with Fleetfoot’s functionality. The overall duration of the effect has been reduced to compensate, but should still keep Shifu safe immediately after his counter triggers.

Spear Slash (M1)

  • Damage increased from 9 to 10

Kunju (Q)

  • Immaterial duration reduced from 0.8s to 0.5s
  • Movement speed while immaterial is now increased by 35% (corresponding to Fleetfoot)

Taya

Razor Boomerang (M1)

  • Damage increased from 12 to 14
